still working...

I am still practicing the first two pages..and I definitely feel more comfortable as to where the notes are and not hesitating as much in that aspect. I am still trying to get more comfortable with the rhythm, but I feel a little more comfortable. Anyways, I'm still working and hopefully it will be done soon =)

4/9/09

Hola!

Just thinking about this Thursday- a bunch of people told me they were not going to be here, and I'm just trying to figure out a condensed schedule for those people who will still be here. Can you please post a message ASAP listing what times you are available on Thursday? I can be at Marist anytime from 5-9. After you send me your availability I'll let you know what time your lesson will be. If I won't see you, have a good break!

counting again

after last time, i've decided just to practice the right hand for now so i don't confuse myself. i think on thursday i need to hear it played a few times (just the 2 pages i'm working on) and get some notes clarified. basically i need a tiny theory lesson because this piece is more complicated....and since i don't remember how all of it is supposed to sound its hard for me to figure out the right timing and if i'm playing it somewhat correctly. but i'll play what i can on thursday night.

new piece

so i lost the book with pachabel's canon. now i'm using the other book to learn fur elise, i can play the part everyone's heard pretty easily, but very slowly. the next section is a little confusing b/c i don't know what it sounds like so i don't know if i'm playing it correctly. i'm also having trouble remembering which notes are which. i'll probably just make fur elise my recital piece because it will take me that long to perfect it =(

progressing slowly

I am getting more comfortable with the third page and piecing it all together. Still a little slow, but the first two pages feel pretty good. The hardest part right now is just trying to get more and more comfortable with the piece. I am so anxious to finish it =)

frustrated

I have not had as much time as I wanted to practice this week...this week has been so busy and really stressful. I am trying to start playing the last half of the song, but it is going really slow so it's kind of like starting all over again. Hopefully things will pick up a little bit!

Counting

I am having to go verrry slow with the counting. The song actually makes more sense when I say "one ee and uh"... but after I counted for the 16th notes and got to something different I realized that I cannot count for those either! gah! So progress is slow...but things are making more sense =)

I forgot to write in my blog after I practiced and I just now remembered! eek!

I am still having trouble with the timing of the notes, especially when there is a mix of notes that all have a different count. Other than that, I think I am getting a little more comfortable with the part of the piece I am practicing. I can play what I have for you tonight at class. I had trouble figuring out the fingering for a couple of chords also.

See you at class!

F-major?

I need help playing the Fmajor scale (if thats even what its called). i don't know how to play an octave. other than that, i am counting out loud while i'm practicing, which is really helping. i have to play slower, but it sounds better. i tried the other, not-baby, version of pachabel's canon. and its really hard, so i'm going to take that one super slowwww. i'm still learning the baby version thats in the book we're using. but i've made some progress on that at least. i guess i'll play what i can for you tomorrow

Time signatures

Hi,

I am having problems with some of the fingering in the song I am practicing. Also, I was wondering if we could go over time signatures in the next class?

See you tomorrow night!

piano practice

well i practiced twice this week, once on friday and again on saturday. it was really frustrating. i don't remember a lot of the technique stuff. i forget what notes are called and how long i'm supposed to hold them. i've forgotten about tempo and all that stuff, but it was still fun. i worked on my scales and 2 songs from the piano books i have. i think i need a brief refresher course in beginner's piano, just so i know what i'm talking about when i play. i really need to work on sight reading too. but it's been a little frustrating, but i'm excited to get back into it  =)
